Unlike most hummingbirds that migrate south for the winter, the Buff-bellied Hummingbird is a year-round resident of the Rio Grande Valley β the only hummingbird that reliably stays through South Texas winters. Look for its iridescent green back, buff-colored belly, and distinctive red bill with a dark tip at native flowering plants throughout the VNC butterfly garden and woodland trail.
